Components of a fibre optic lighting system

The Light source

This component connects to the main power supply and provides a single, controlled source of light for the multiple output fittings under its control.  By the optional inclusion of ancillary components such as motors, lenses, colour filters etc., the light source can be tailored to generate a wide variety of different lighting effects and techniques.

The Transmission Optical Fibres

Usually made into a harness (or bundle of several optical light guides) these convey the light to the output fittings. Various fibre qualities and sizes are available to best match the required lighting specification.

The Output Fittings

Output fittings are fixed to the end of the transmission optical fibres, and it is at this point that the greatest variety and most adaptable scope can be realised to suit the technical and aesthetic requirements of a given project.  Absolute Action manufacture a comprehensive range of light sources designed to meet most of today's requirements. The range of 6 standard models in the Spectralux® series has been developed to provide a readily identifiable choice to meet the needs of most general requirements.

They are designed for installation within the minimum amount of available space, run as cool as possible without compromising the main function of the unit, and are extremely quiet in operation.

Special units can also be supplied to meet the most demanding specifications or requirements and further models are constantly being developed.
