George Washington Museum

Absolute Action's proprietary track system used here works with a pivoting ball and plate fixture, plus interchangeable optical lenses. Balancing the properties of these with a range of fibre sizes gives great lighting diversity, and versatility for exhibit changes.

The range of items was unusually diverse, much of it being domestic artefacts of minor intrinsic value but of absorbing interest to the viewing public, who flock to the site to submerge themselves in the everyday surroundings and utensils used by the first American President. He and his wife were tremendous entertainers, and notes and artefacts bear testimony to their most generous personal hospitality.

A great deal of skill was required to ensure that the lighting flattered and enhanced everyday exhibits boldly, whilst exerting extreme care for the conservation lighting of such priceless historic items as Washington's Will.
