Lee Chapel Museum

For this memorial to the life and times of General Robert E Lee at the Washington and Lee University in Virginia, extensive use was made of the, then new, miniaturised Articulate System. This was developed to provide maximum flexibility of display lighting options actually on site, and further to accommodate plenty of scope for readjustment in the future should exhibits be changed.

Heights and angles of fixture bracketry can be readily varied to suit the disposition and size of each artifact, with components that thread, lock and otherwise inter-connect together. The Articulate System presents itself as a physical reality within each case which does not detract at all from the displayed artefacts - the two work together in partnership and the overall effect is extremely 'cool'.

Some ten years later, Absolute Action were duly invited to return and re-focus all the fibre optic lighting following a complete refurbishment of the exhibit, and the addition of the university's fantastic orrery. Sure enough, all the existing and hidden 'spare' fibres, together with the arsenal of alternative bracketry that had been supplied for the original installation, were sprung into action and utilised to the full - genuine testimony to the value of prudent specification and careful planning.
